Project details
In an older single-family house, the existing ceiling did not provide sufficient thermal performance and caused significant heat loss. The goal was a robust insulation upgrade without unnecessary complexity. At the same time, the visible ceiling finish should create a clean, modern interior look.
We installed wood-fiber insulation precisely between the rafters to improve the thermal envelope. Below, we built a timber substructure and lined the ceiling with interior-grade timber cladding. We completed all junctions and transitions cleanly so the technical and visual result works as one.
The ceiling now performs much better energetically and heat loss is clearly reduced. The new timber lining gives the interior a more modern, high-quality appearance. With a straightforward approach, the project delivered a major improvement.
For many older homes, insulation between rafters plus a new timber soffit is a practical way to achieve a noticeable energy upgrade with controlled effort.
