Project details
At an existing home in Oberriet, the brief combined two functions: a weather-protected terrace roof below and a fully usable balcony above. The new structure had to connect precisely to the existing building while being supported at the front on ground screws. For access to the new balcony, part of the existing masonry parapet had to be opened and converted into a passage.
We started with the ground-screw foundations, then set the front posts and the BSH/KVH structural frame. Next, we built the terrace roof with clean timber soffit cladding and coordinated the drainage details. Above it, we completed the balcony build-up with ESB sheathing and bitumen waterproofing, then laid 60x60x2 cm porcelain tiles on adjustable pedestals. The railing, including the side wind/privacy screen, was designed, fabricated, and installed entirely by our team; all surfaces were finished with a triple coating. Finally, we completed the tie-in to the existing building, including the wall opening and balcony access point.
The result combines terrace roof and balcony in one coherent structure with clean tie-ins to the existing building. Below, the client gained a protected seating area; above, a durable balcony surface with porcelain tiles on adjustable pedestals. Railing, privacy screen, and access zone are executed consistently and ready for daily use.
We also take on multi-stage projects that combine foundations, timber structure, terrace roof, balcony build-up, railing/privacy elements, and modifications to existing masonry—from planning to finished delivery.
