Project details
At the house in Gams, an additional seating area needed a cover. The connection had to match the existing façade and roof edge. Limited build-up height and the window areas dictated the structure.
We built the BSH/KVH frame by hand (no CNC), with a wall plate and front posts. Connections to the existing building were fitted, screwed, and sealed. Polycarbonate roof panels were installed with a fall, and drainage led into a gutter and downpipe.
The canopy sits tension-free against the existing building; joints are clean and watertight. The seating area stays protected while the polycarbonate roof keeps it bright. Rainwater is directed away and the structure feels calm and well-integrated.
A mono-pitch roof is a good choice when there is little build-up height available at the existing building for the connection.
