Project details
There was an unprotected seating area along the house façade. The roof had to fit beneath the existing gutter. Limited build-up height and a connection to the existing roof overhang. Drainage and splash-water protection had to be taken into account.
We built and aligned a timber supporting structure with posts and knee braces. We defined the bearing points on the existing building and executed the connection area watertight. We formed the roof with a fall towards the gutter and integrated the drainage. We used corrosion-protected screws and metal fittings.
The seating area is now permanently covered and easier to use in rain. The structure stands stable and loads are transferred via posts and bearing points. Water is drained in a controlled way via gutter and downpipe. The canopy integrates well into the existing façade and roof line.
A timber canopy is well suited for patios on existing buildings when limited build-up height and a clean gutter connection are required.
