Project details
A small garden seating area had to be roofed and connected directly to an existing house. The existing load-bearing structure was not sufficient for the new structural load. Before building the canopy, one key structural element inside the existing building had to be replaced.
We carefully removed the old load-bearing beam and related support section, and temporarily supported the existing structure. We then installed a new BSH main beam to carry the new loads safely. After that, we built the new canopy as a simple, cost-efficient solution with modern translucent acrylic corrugated sheet roofing.
The small garden seating area is now weather-protected and practical for daily use. The existing load-bearing structure has been upgraded correctly from a technical standpoint. Overall, the result is a functional and economical extension with a clean connection to the existing building.
For extensions on existing buildings, structural capacity must be checked and upgraded where needed before adding the new construction.
